Mini Gift Bag

After many years of hoarding gorgeous patterned paper, commonly referred to as DSP by Stampin' Up! demos, and adored by all, I made a resolution to use my paper. I found that by opening it and cutting at least half the sheets in half, I was more inclined to create with it. I also followed other demonstrators to learn ways to get that paper onto cards and out into the public eye.

Quite a while ago I saw a post and video by Ronda Wade, and she used a couple of 12" x 12" sheets of paper. I've added her link below...

I often don't have 2 large sheets the same left over, so I wondered if I could change the measurements and use up some 6" by 6" papers, because I definitely have some of those. These bags can hold a couple of Tombow Multipupose Glues, a Memento Ink Pad, small embellishments, a lovely bar of soap, 2 mini bottles from Body Shop or a small body butter.

I have to admit that those smaller measurements are rather fiddly, and it has been really difficult turning the top over, but I have a new theory I plan to try to see if that improves my technique - I'll edit the post when I know!

Tutorial:

2 sheets of 6’”by 6” designer series paper

On the first sheet, score at 1½” down 3 sides and on the 4th side score at ½” (Top of bag)
On the second sheet cut off 2” from one side (4” by 6”). Score at ½” on 3 sides, 2 longer, 1 shorter and on the 4th side score at 1½”.(Bottom of bag)
Fold on score lines and decide which way is on the outside.
On the first larger piece, slice next to the base and up to the 1½” score line, so those flaps can be folded in.
On the second, smaller piece (back of bag) notch out the small pieces each side of the base.
Apply Tear ‘n’ Tape to 1½” sides on the smaller piece, and on the base piece on the 2 longer sides. For the larger piece, on 2 opposite sides of the 1½” squares next to the base.
The first side is the trickiest to attach, but after that the second side is quite easy. Fold the square base flaps in and remove backing from tape, then fold the rear flap over. Place something, even your hand inside to get a firm seal, before finishing the bag by folding the front base over.

For the card, you will need a card base (my 'tent' card measures 10.6cm, scored at 14.5, and the excess trimmed off. You can also score at 14.8cm and there is no excess).
The strip is the extra from making the bag, and it can be mounted on card, or adhered straight to the card front. Colours are easy to match as Stampin' Up! carefully plans the colour ranges. If a colour is included in the pattern paper, you can be assured that those colours will co-ordinate. I'm really liking the way Jade Green and Misty Moonlight provide a soothing colour scheme. I'll pop a few of the In Color range below, in case you'd like to shop these brand new colours.
Next week, the video is going to show another way to use another 2 sheets of 6" X 6" paper to make 6 lovely cards, and we'll use these same papers.
