Three (Cool) Treats CTC #118



Hey there, welcome back to another round of CASE-ing The Catty. Sadly, this is the second time I've written this post, but apparently I failed to save it first time. I'm sure I won't be half as witty this time round, ha, ha! My inspiration for these cards comes basically from the rule of threes. Items placed in a group of three are most pleasing to the eye, as seen in the catalogue picture at the top of my post. There are three scoops of ice cream in the sundae dish and three icy poles on the card at the far right. Also, one of my very most-pinned cards, which I was attempting to CASE with new product, is from SALE-A-Bration last year and it has a similar layout to those ice creams.


When I have an opportunity to stamp, I often stamp a whole lot of one image, die cut them and keep them in a plastic container ready to use. This was the case with Cool Treats, and makes it so easy to try out different combinations. The Tasty Treats designer specialty paper is part of this suite of products, so it's natural that the perfect paper for the ice cream cones was included, and the die gives it delicious texture around the top. The background sheet of DSP has sprinkles on it. You can see this suite, Cool Treats on page 32/33 of your Occasions catalogue, online or ask me for a copy.


I happened to have scraps of the kraft 12" by 12 " card on my work table, after making boxes, so I used that for the Stitched Ovals. I love the definition the stitching gives to these shapes. I also happened to have a stamped flower image die cut on my table and thought it added a sweet feminine touch to the card.


The sundae was a bit of fun. After seeing our CEO, Sara Douglass, colour the glue in a fine tip glue pen, I wondered how it would work just layering the same glue on top of the die cut choccie pieces. I laid a few rows of them out on my teflon mat, dropped the glue till they were well-covered and left them overnight. I think you can see the luscious shininess on them, just like the real thing!!! The sprinkles were a little harder to apply as they are very, very small. A spoon cut from silver foil is just perfect too.


Happy Celebrations was on my table too, so I added the splattery colour using one of the stamps from that set. Instead of a doiley, I've used the two banners and a different sentiment, so it's not a direct copy of the catalogue. I really did like the Pool Party check paper though, and wanted to stick with that.
