Sketch #18

I'm following along with the Great American Stampin' Show as they create using the sketches from the catalogue as inspiration. This week it is sketch #18 and as usual, you do not have to follow strictly to the same formula. Use the sketch to get your creativity started.

You may have noticed by now that I LOVE patterned paper! When I first joined up I was reluctant to cut into paper and as a result I now have unopened but dated paper packs. My advice is to open a pack of paper the minute you get it, take just one sheet of each and even if you only cut two card fronts (10cm X 14cm for me) you've made a start. One reason I do love patterned paper is that it helps decide the colours I will use to create.

The panels for this sketch are cut from the delightful Meandering Meadow paper and I purposely selected one with yellow flowers so I could add the Cheerful Daisies to the card. A stamped daisy is inside, and this Cheerful Daisies stamp has not only versatile flower images, but some very cheerful sentiments too.

For the sentiment I chose a generic 'brighten your day' from the very new (November 5th release) of an Online Exclusive stamp - Sharing Loving Crafting. If you want to take a closer look at this stamp, just click on its name.

A Bevy of Butterflies

Wanting to create some simpler cards for a mature-aged group I craft with, I decided the butterflies from Sketched Butterflies didn't have to be coloured.

Version 1 has layers of Petunia Pop and Fresh Freesia laid onto Highland Heather, with stamping from Textured Timber.

Version 2 has strips of Petunia Pop designer series paper glued to Basic White, and the same arrangement of butterflies around the stamped sentiment label. I really like the birthday sentiment from Sketched Butterflies. Do you prefer version 1 or 2?

Sketch #17 In Blue

I'm following along with the Great American Stampin' Show as they create using the sketches from the catalogue as inspiration. This week it is sketch #17 and as usual, you do not have to follow strictly to the same formula. Use the sketch to get your creativity started.

This week I have followed the sketch quite closely.

This is a simple card relying heavily on this pretty paper and a simple stamped greeting from the Expressions of Kindness kit. When you have used your consumable supplies from a kit, you still can use those stamps for other projects.

Sketch #16

To help inspire my crafting I'm following along with the Great American Stampin' Show as they use the sketches from the catalogue as inspiration. This week it is sketch #16 and as usual, you do not have to follow strictly to the same formula. Use the sketch to inspire, and don't forget to send the cards you create.

Initially I stamped a background for this card using a lot of random images of 'teen boy' things, but it just didn't turn out as I'd imagined, so a piece of Just Kiddin' DSP in lovely shades of blue has substituted. This paper pack is only $8.70 at the moment in Clearance.

I changed the dimensions of this centre piece as well and added a matt in the same navy foil (retired) as the numbers cut from a retired number set. After colouring the boot from Let's Wander it was added across the corner.

Pocket Thoughts
dies are new in and do come in a bundle with a stamp set. However, I have bought the dies just to make these pockets for money and gift cards inside birthday cards. I think I also might end up using the larger ones on scrapbook pages for journalling blocks or memorabilia.

Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 28 - Granny Apple Green

Other team members from Art with Heart are hopping sharing Granny Apple Green tonight, but I will be away from my computer for a while so I will share my card, but not link in with the hop, in case it doesn't automatically publish.

Layers of Beauty is one of my favourite stamp sets. I especially like colouring using masks, ink and blending brushes, but this time I used the alcohol marker Stampin' Blends.

The very simple typed birthday sentiment from Country Birdhouse gets used a lot in my craft room, and this time it has been heat embossed with white embossing powder onto a strip of black card.

Maybe I have the most extensive collection of glimmer paper at the moment!!! Granny Apple Green is part of a three-colour pack. You can find it on page 53 of the Holiday mini - Festive Glimmer Paper #164106. The other colours are Garden Green & Cherry Cobbler.

A partial floral image stamped on the inside and some splattering to soften it and we're done.

Sketch #15

To help inspire my crafting I'm following along with the Great American Stampin' Show as they use the sketches from the catalogue as inspiration. This week it is sketch #15 and as usual, you do not have to follow strictly to the same formula. Use the sketch to inspire, and don't forget to send the cards you create.

When I sat down to create for this sketch, I wasn't really sure which direction I would take it. There was a temptation to go Christmas again but I do also need more teen birthday cards, so Round We Go won.

The circle dies and stamps partly influenced that decision, plus there was a single line sentiment which fitted the thin banner from the sketch.

This is not quite a Triadic colour scheme if you look at the colour wheel, but it is close, and the colours do appeal to me. Peach Pie and Summer Splash are current 2024-2026 In Colors, and Azure Afternoon revently joined our Brights range.

Below is a card that I shared in February, and I share it again to show you that it uses the sketch too, only upside down!

Trusty Toolbox is the patterned paper and it is currently available in the Clearance Rack only $8.70 for a large pack. Even if you don't have the Trusty Tools stamps & dies, this paper is very usable for masculine cards by fussy cutting the tools. Just click on the highlighted words to check it out.

Sketch #14

To help inspire my crafting I'm following along with the Great American Stampin' Show as they use the sketches from the catalogue as inspiration. This week it is sketch #14 and as usual, you do not have to follow strictly to the same formula. Use the sketch to inspire, and don't forget to send the cards you create.

With it being only two calendar months until Christmas day, it seems a perfect opportunity to interpret this sketch using Merriest Trees, a Christmas bundle released in 2023 and still going strong.

Just to give it a fresh twist, I included some paper from Season of Green & Gold SDSP and kept it fairly true to the sketch. If you stamped and die cut a number of these trees, this card would be a good design to mass produce.
