Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 23 - Early Espresso

Contributors to this blog hop are all members of Claire Daly's Art With Heart group. Every Wednesday night at 8p.m AEST we feature a fabulous Stampin' Up! colour, in alphabetical order. This week the star of the show is Early Espresso.

CARD 1
Card one may not be fully entitled to be included in Early Espresso with only a minimal amount of the colour used on the banner and stamped sentiment, but it's pretty, so I wanted to share it somewhere.

This sketch was the one used for my Friday night sketch where I made 2 simpler masculine cards, and this card is the avid version of the sketch.

Enduring Beauty is another bundle which includes a stamp, dies and masks for easy colouring. I chose to colour with a variety of Stampin' Blends.

For the next two cards I used Frosted Forest bundle, which also consists of a stamp set, dies and masks to colour the images. This set is ideal to create some (masculine) birthday cards. You can find Frosted Forest in Online Exclusives.
CARD 2

The masks can be used with stamped images or 'naked' like I have done here. Either way, they are a good way to colour images if you're not so confident on using Stampin' blends or pencils.

The backgrounds were made the same way with a forest of trees in the background. This one has been sliced at 2.5cm intervals and placed evenly on a background of woodgrain from Country Woods DSP. The sentiment has been heat embossed in gold.

I have done a Facebook Live on making this card.

CARD 3

The background on card 2 was left intact with the focal tree die cut, as in card 1. A woodgrain stamp has been used in the background of the sentiment label.

This time I used a skewed layer to back the art piece, which ties in with the frame on the label.

Next talented AWH team member sharing a creation is Kate Morgan.

Happy crafting,

  1. Rachel, these are three fantastic cards! I love the feminine colours and layers of card one, the super cool strip effect of card two and the woodgrain effect on card three. They are all fabulous and you've really shown the versatility of Early Espresso.

  2. Two stunning cards Rachel! The circle of flowers is coloured beautifully, lovely subtle colours. The masked trees are lovely too.

  3. Three wonderful cards Rachel. I love your interpretation of the sketch in card 1 with the Enduring Beauty arrangement, die cut leaves, banner, ribbon …. Your colouring is gorgeous. Cards 2 & 3 are special too. I love the images without a stamped outline. Both backgrounds are delightful, whether sliced and separated or in 1 piece. xxx

  4. All great cards, Rachel, but I particularly like card 2 with the split panels. The lovely soft masking of the trees and the use of the Woodgrain patterned papers is wonderful!
