Colour Creations - Week #16 - Calypso Coral

Contributors to this blog hop are all members of Claire Daly's Art With Heart group. We love chatting, crafting and getting together in person. Calypso Coral is the featured colour this week.

Many of the team have commented that it is often easier to use a colour when it is included in a patterned paper (DSP). I found that true this week when I used the Inked Botanicals designer series paper to make some cards. The paper also gives other ideas for colours to use on your creations.

This card uses 4 rectangles with one corner folded back to create a framed middle section. The Inked & Tiled stamp was used as it has rather nice distinctive images. That gives the 'faded out' impression you see here.

The sentiments are very usable too, don't you think?

I made a few of these cards with the shorter front which allows you to display either a contrasting piece of DSP, or my preference this time, a matching piece.

Lockie likes to sit on top of this cabinet and seems to resent when I wish to use it for photography!

Another Calypso Coral example, this time paired with a coloured panel for the stamped images and white sequins stand out in contrast.

Now it's time to see what the talented Amie

  1. Great cards, to showcase Calypso Coral, Rachel. I don't often use this colour, but you have inspired me. Very clever framing of the sentiment panel on your first card - such a simple technique, that looks very cool! Nice colour choices with your stamping, too.

  2. Your cards are all so beautiful, Rachel! The first makes me think of a quilt, and I love the shorter front panels on the other two - it's a great way to get double duty from the pretty DSP.

  5. Rachel your cards are lovely and showcase a variety of designs with the DSP but also love the stamped flowers with the faded look. Lockie certainly doesn’t look impressed about having to move!

  6. What an effective way to use the 2-sided papers, Rachel, folding the corner to create a frame around your feature panel! All of cards are lovely, and it's nice to see some in landscape too!
